Video to GIF

A moment of your video, as a GIF to send and share.

Your video stays on your device: nothing is uploaded
1 · Your video No video chosen
2 · Size (long side)
Format
3 · Smoothness and speed

At most 15 seconds of video. The bigger and smoother the GIF, the heavier it is: for WhatsApp and messages 480 px “Normal” is fine.

How to use it

GIFs start by themselves, loop and can be sent anywhere: chats, email, X, websites, presentations. Here you choose the part of the video to convert (up to 15 seconds), the size, the format, the smoothness and the speed, and a back-and-forth boomerang effect if you like. The GIF is created by your browser, without uploading the video anywhere.

  1. Choose your video: it stays on your device.
  2. Mark the start and end of the clip and choose size, format and speed.
  3. Press “Create the GIF”, check it and download it.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The frames are read and turned into a GIF by your browser. Nothing leaves your device.

Why is the GIF so heavy?

The GIF format is old and compresses poorly: each frame is almost a separate image. For a light GIF choose 320 or 480 px, “Light” smoothness and a short clip of a few seconds.

Are the colours the same as the video?

A GIF can use at most 256 colours: images with delicate gradients may look slightly “banded”. For the best quality with motion a short MP4 video is better.

Which videos can I use?

MP4, iPhone MOV and WebM that your browser can read, on up-to-date browsers: Chrome, Edge, Safari (iOS 16.4 and later) and Firefox.

Can I use it on WhatsApp and Instagram?

On WhatsApp, Telegram, X and email yes, as an animated image. Instagram doesn't accept GIFs in posts: use a short video there.
