Remove location and hidden data from photos
See what your photos reveal and remove it before you share them.
Your photo stays on your device: nothing is uploadedThe image, its orientation and color profile: nothing about you. JPG, PNG and WebP aren't recompressed, so quality stays exactly the same.
The map is simplified: the real point is accurate to a few meters. The coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap only if you open the link.
How to use it
Photos taken with a phone can carry invisible data: the exact spot where you were, your phone model, the day and time. Many social networks strip it when you post, but not all of them, and when you send a photo as a file it usually stays. This tool shows what each photo contains and makes a clean copy, without recompressing it.
- Choose one or more photos, or drag them into the box.
- See what they reveal: the most sensitive data, like location, is at the top.
- Press “Clean and download”. The copy is checked again to make sure it's clean.
FAQ
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser and the photo never leaves your device. The tool even works offline.
Does the photo lose quality?
Not for JPG, PNG and WebP: only the hidden data blocks are removed, without recompressing the image. Other formats, like HEIC, are converted to high-quality JPG.
Don't social networks and WhatsApp already remove this data?
Many apps strip it when you post or send a regular photo, but not always: for example when you send it as a document, by email, or upload it to classifieds sites and forums. Cleaning it first is the safe way.
What is the hidden thumbnail?
A small copy of the photo saved inside the file. Some apps don't update it when you crop the photo, so it can show exactly the part you cut out.
