Compress video
Lighter videos to send and post, as MP4.
Your video stays on your device: nothing is uploadedThe video is re-encoded by your device, often faster than its length. The result is an MP4 that opens anywhere.
How to use it
Phone videos are heavy: one minute in 4K can be over 300 MB, too much for an email, for some apps or for a slow connection. Here you choose how much to compress or the maximum size in MB, and a lower resolution if you like: your device re-encodes the video as MP4 (H.264), the format that opens anywhere. The video isn't uploaded anywhere.
- Choose your video: it stays on your device.
- Choose how much to compress or the maximum size, and a lower resolution if needed: you see the estimated size straight away.
- Press “Compress the video”, check the result and download it.
FAQ
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The video is read and re-encoded by your browser with your device's video encoder. Nothing leaves the device.
How much quality is lost?
With “Balanced” the difference usually isn't visible on a phone. “Smallest” is meant for sending or archiving. If the original is already light, lower the resolution instead: 1080p is plenty for Instagram and TikTok.
How do I stay under a certain size?
Choose “Up to … MB” and type the MB: the quality is calculated to stay a little under that limit. If the MB are too few for the video's length, also choose a lower resolution or remove the audio.
Which videos can I use?
MP4, iPhone MOV and WebM that your browser can read. The result is always MP4. It works on up-to-date browsers: Chrome, Edge, Safari (iOS 16.4 and later) and Firefox.
Does the audio change?
No: the audio is copied as it is, with no loss of quality. If you need an even lighter video you can remove the audio.
